ODD FELLOWS’ & REBEKAHS’ HOME OF MAINE

85 Caron Ln                    Auburn ME 04210                     207 786 4616

March 2012

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

First – the Board of Trustees would like to thank everyone who in any way participated in voting for the Home in the recent Bangor Savings Bank “Community Matters More” balloting, for a chance to receive up to a $5,000 donation.   Thank you to those who contacted family, friends and neighbors to tell them about this opportunity.  We do not yet know the results, but when we do, we will let you know.

Our Home continues to be recognized as one of the finest in the State, and the Board and Staff remain committed to that goal.   The Home is on sound financial ground; however, as with all investments, growth has not been what we would like to see.

Because of that, the Board is launching several fundraising efforts, which can grow to considerable donations with support from the membership.  The first is CLYNK – a way to collect bottles and cans and have the money go directly into an account for the Home.  Information on this can be found in the March issue of Rebekah News as well as online at oddfellowsofmaine.com webpage.  If each lodge would fill at least two bags, what an easy way to add to our funds.

Another fundraiser – seasonal – which will be forthcoming is a spring bulb sale.  Rebekah lodges will be receiving information in the mail – Odd Fellow lodges can get this information from the above web site.

Other fundraisers will be coming in the near future.  The Board would like to encourage the participation of each Odd Fellow and Rebekah, in whatever way they can.

Now – to Fellowship Gardens.  Many of you have heard various reports on this project, but unfortunately some erroneous information has been circulating.

Let us be clear – if and or when this project moves forward, it will be done in such a way that will NOT jeopardize the existing facility IN ANY WAY.  The Board is still in the exploration phase of this project,  and may be for some time to come.  If/when we proceed, it will be done much differently than projects in the past.

There will be a series of large fundraising efforts under the heading of “Capital Campaign”, where a considerable portion of the funds will be raised through large donors across the state and country who are interested in seeing innovative health care grow.

Additionally, there are generous-sized grants available for projects such as this.  There are also guaranteed Federal government USDA low interest loans available which would NOT be secured by our property, but by the Federal government.

These are just some of the financial options being explored.  As we have more to report we will keep you updated.

Thank you for your continued interest in and support of our Odd Fellows’ and Rebekahs’ Home of Maine.

Fraternally,

Jane S. McColliister
